Public libraries in South Australia provide vital services to their local communities. They welcome over 9.7 million visitors each year; equivalent to 6 visits for each and every South Australian resident. In addition to the library ‘branch’ visits, use of and visitation to online library services is increasing with over 20 million visits recorded last year.

Libraries are providing a greater range of services and facilities to visitors in response to the changing nature of library use and community needs. The demand on staff to provide a diversity of support services to visitors is also changing.
